Only 950 women have registered their names for foreign jobs until Sunday afternoon as the government launched online registration in three divisions today. According to Bangladesh Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) Bureau information cell, 950 women enrolled their names for jobs in Singapore, Hong Kong and Middle-Eastern countries till 3:30pm. The online registration of female workers in three divisions– Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet– will continue till April 11. Women from Khulna and Chittagong divisions will register their names on April 12 to 16, while those from Dhaka and Barisal divisions will get registered on April 17 to 21. Women aged between 25 and 45 years can register their names through local union parishad and ward level information centers between 9:00am and 5:00pm every day. Minimum educational qualification for female workers’ jobs in Singapore and Hong Kong is Secondary School Certificate, while the requirement for Middle-Eastern countries jobs for them is Junior School Certificate. On completion of the registration, those selected will be sent for training taking into account the demand for jobs skills and also the culture of the countries concerned. Initially, the females will be registered for jobs like domestic workers, caregivers and garment workers. Aiming to send trained workers to foreign countries, the government took the decision last month on successful completion of registration of male workers for Malaysian jobs in January this year.
